Game engine developed by Epic Games, Inc. and Digital Extremes for the well-received Action game Unreal Tournament. Epic are also responsible for the earlier Unreal Engine. Multiplayer support is much improved in this version. Interestingly, a Linux version was produced as well as the Windows implementation.
The engine contains a Java-like scripting language - UnrealScript - which enables events, weapons and other objects to be defined outside the core software, this language being used for majority of game-play implementation.
Also used in
Adventure Pinball: Forgotten Island,
Star Trek DS9: The Fallen,
Dark Sector, and
Unreal Fortress.
