Chessmaster 7000
Part of this successful series of chess sims. It was developed with the help of some of the world's top players.
The game employs simple but effective graphics and controls. The AI is of a high standard and you can set the difficulty level to suit you. There is the option to choose an opponent that plays in the style of a particular Grandmaster. By winning matches you can develop your own chess rating.
An good addition to this title in the series is the 'Kid's Room', offering colorful boards and pieces and providing a good introduction to the game for six to twelve year-olds.
The multi-player options allows for games against a human opponent via LAN, modem or Net connection.
Apart from the game options, there are also some half a million pre-programmed matches incorporated and the in-game analysis engine will explain the motivation behind any series of moves. Some of the pre-programmed games come complete with a video commentary provided by the chess master Josh Waitzkin.
The interface has been improved, making the game even easier to use. The graphics and audio are effective.
