Crash Team Racing
Racing game featuring characters familiar from the highly successful Crash Bandicoot platform games. It combines racing action with shooting elements.
You race go-kart type vehicles around a detailed and colorfully-rendered tracks. There is an extensive selection of drivers each with their own handling characteristics. The drivers include Crash himself, Cortex, Dingodile, Tiny, Polar, Pura and Coco, with additional bonus characters to be earned
There are numerous play modes including Arcade, Versus (multi-player), Time Trial and Adventure modes. In Adventure Mode a story ties the races together. There are numerous items to be collected, puzzles to be solved and secret sections of track to be opened. Power-ups are scattered around the track and there are several types of weapons, including homing missiles.
A good selection of well-designed tracks are incorporated into the game. There are 25 in all, and many have steep sections, jumps or obstacles. They are set in a variety of environments including a frozen wasteland and a sewer.
The game's 3D graphics are impressive. Upbeat music, good sound effects and speech samples accompany play.
