Delta Force 2
Follow-up to the acclaimed original, Delta force. The game offers better graphics and more varied gameplay than the first game. You play/control part of Delta Force, an elite special forces unit that supposedly operates under the direct control of the US government. The gameplay combines first-person shooting elements with strategy development.
The main single player game is the campaign. It consists of over 40 missions, set in many different locations around the world, from Antarctica to Africa. There is also a quick start option and comprehensive mission editor. The multi-player options allows for up to 50 people to participate on-line can play. A notable addition is the Voice-Over-Net technology that allows you to communicate with one other player at a time, either to refine your team's strategy o the ground or to taunt members of the enemy force.
An important addition to the game is the Commander's Screen, which allows you to plan your strategy before the mission begins on an overhead map. In this mode you establish waypoints for the movements of the members of your team. You also equip them at this stage.
Mission objectives are varied. They include capturing individuals, escorting valuable resources and the destruction of various targets (from ships to installations). Stealth plays and important part in the game and you must beware of booby traps.
New moves such as climbing have been added. There is a good range of high-powered weaponry incorporated, right up to an anti-tank gun. Other equipment includes items such as a rebreather for use underwater and a camera.
The game employs a VoxelSpace graphics engine which works to good effect. The environment has been made more realistic - wind and gravity now play their part in the action. Weather and items such as long grass are particularly realistically reproduced. Sound is good adding much to the atmosphere and guiding you as to the source of threats. The game's AI is also of a high standard.
