Deus Ex
Acclaimed first-person role-playing game with action adventure game elements and playability. Set in the future, you play a character named JC Denton, a special agent who is enhanced with cyber implants. There are loads of weapons and gadgets included in the game, although only a selection of these can be carried at any one time.
The game has a very strong story developed through well-written dialogue and cutscenes. The plot revolves around the lack of antidote for a plague called the 'Grey Death'. The game consists of a series of well-designed levels with a variety of settings, including futuristic urban settings. Environments are fully interactive and you can move and throw objects. The gameplay involves stealth, shooting, exploration and puzzle-solving. The game's graphics are impressive.
There are decisions to be made in-game that will have some effect on how the game unfolds. The amount of freedom and realism of the game are notable features, for instance it is advantageous to hide or dispose of the bodies of victims and items such as dart boars and pool tables are fully functional. The controls and interface are highly effective. Play is accompanied by atmospheric audio.
