Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned

Adventure game with RPG component. Gabriel is a shadow hunter - a bounty hunter who specializes in the supernatural. You control him for most of the game, but at points control his sidekick Grace instead. Grace does much of the research back at HQ.

The setting of the main investigation, Rennes-le-Chateau, is a real place surrounded in real mystery. The actual history of this story is included, and the game mixes fiction and non-fiction to great effect. The main story of the game involves a kidnapped prince who has apparently been taken to Rennes-le-Chateau by a group of vampires.

The game covers a period of a few days that are divided into sections of two hours or so. During the game you'll encounter numerous NPCs and challenging puzzles. You view Gabriel in the third-person and the game employs a simple point-and-click interface. The game's 3D graphics are reasonable.

The game employs an innovative 3D interface that takes some time to master. You can move the camera to explore the area (with the unusual consequence of being able to examine and use objects far from his location).
