    Description
Strategy and wargaming. The game is essentially a turn-based strategy game (with a turn representing a game-day). It is played in a large world shown on maps of various sizes viewed from overhead. The game covers a variety sorts of terrain, including grasslands, snowy landscapes, swamps and deserts.

The game consists of six single-player campaigns and numerous signal map scenarios. The multi-player game has been improved and a map editor is now incorporated. At the beginning of the game you decide where to place your castles and towns. During the game you can build on these and upgrade your castle. There are eight castle types to choose from. Each have their own elements that produce certain things, most importantly friendly creatures. In order to build these items it is necessary to accumulate gold and other materials. These come from mines, sawmills etc. that appear on the map and need to be secured.

At the end of every game-week your creatures become available for combat. They can only be moved when led by a hero. Heroes have their own characteristics, there are 16 to choose from and the build up their levels of experience and skill. Heroes must be deployed carefully to engage in combat as well as bringing fresh forces from the castles. Whilst the heroes do not take part in the combat sequences directly, apart from spell casting, their skills modify those of their army.

The creatures also come in a number of varieties including such entities as angels and behemoths. They each have a particular set of skills including attack and defense strength and speed If a hero is defeated control of his army falls to the victor. You can also gain forces by besieging enemy castles..

Combat is conducted on a hex grid which displays the armies to either side. The creatures are divided into stacks of the same type of creature and when its your turn you can move them the appropriate number of hexes, depending on their speed. This system allows for good tactical play.

The interface and graphics have been refined since the last game in the series. A world map has been added. The graphics are now more 3D than previously. The AI has also been tweaked. Play is accompanied by a good soundtrack.
