Crusaders of Might & Magic
RPG/action game set in the Might and Magic fantasy universe. Originally available for PC, versions for PlayStation and N64 will also be released .
You play a character named Drake. The village of his birth was destroyed and all the inhabitants killed by an army of the undead. You guide him through a quest to defeat evil. You view him from a third-person, slightly overhead, perspective.
The gameplay consists of traveling through the a linear series of locations, defeating enemies (numerous types of creatures feature) and talking with NPCs to gain useful information. Mini-quests and puzzles are included in the game. The majority of the puzzles are timed and there are numerous traps to be avoided.
The game covers numerous well-designed, fantastic environments, there are 15 main locations in all.
Drake has a significant range of moves at his disposal including the ability to jump, run and climb. Along the way you'll gain several types of weapons such as a sword, an ax and a mace. Along with conventional weapons, you'll accumulate useful magical spells. Some of your equipment is purchased from the merchants you'll encounter along the way.
During the game you'll be faced with decisions, such as which equipment to take or skills to learn. The choices you make define how your character develops.
In general the control system is adequate. There is an training section at the start of the game to help you get the hang of the control system. Timing is a crucial factor during combat. The interface is good and the equipment menu system is effective.
The game's graphics are good and the animated cutscenes are of particularly if note. The camera system works well. The game incorporates a large range of sound effects including speech samples. Fitting musical accompaniment is also incorporated.
