NHL Hockey 2001
Part of this popular series of ice-hockey games featuring authentic teams and players. It is also possible create your own. All 30 NHL teams are available, together with a selection of 20 international teams. Game options include quick-start matches, season, career mode, playoffs, and tournament. The career mode offers more managerial options and greater statistical analysis. The various versions all offer a strong multi-player mode, for up to four players.
The game combines fast-paced action with loads of moves and strategy options. The AI is advanced and three difficulty settings add replayability value.
As with the previous games, the graphics are impressive, particularly in the area of character animation. PC and PlayStation 2 versions include more accurate face and facial expression rendering and owners can even customize their team's shirts. Games are accompanied by commentary provided by Bill Clement and Jim Hughson.
