Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
This will be the third release in this popular series of games, although in fact is the sequel proper to Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. It is due for release on the PlayStation 2 in fall 2000 with a PC release date to be announced. The unusual hero Abe, a member of the Mudokon race, will once again star, this time accompanied by an amphibian named Munch (who is the last surviving member of his race, the Gabbits).
The game will mark a move to a fully 3D world, which will be much larger than in the previous games. It will have a less linear structure and the emphasis will be less on traditional platform and puzzle gaming and more on being part of a truly interactive environment. The game's graphics and design promise to be very impressive.
As with the previous two games the innovative 'Game Speak' system allows Abe to issue commands to other creatures, imperative for guiding other Mudokons to safety. Many new commands, even new languages, will be available.
Munch's special power is to be able to controls mechanical devices, thanks to a special implant. This compliments Abe's ability to influence the minds of some types if creatures. These abilities have to suffice as their major means of defense (apart form cunning and stealth), since weapons are few and far between. For the first time controllable vehicles will feature.
