Prince of Persia 3D
Adventure game with action elements. This is an update of two popular 2D games. You play the Prince who has been falsely imprisoned. He must escape, rescue his wife (kidnapped by the Prince's uncle, Rugnor), restore the legitimate king and defeat his enemies.
The game is divided into 15 large levels. Settings are concentrated in and around the palace, including the dungeon and library. Level design is impressive, the detailed and colorful levels are challenging. The gameplay involves, exploration, combat and puzzle-solving.
You view the action from a third-person perspective and the Prince has a large variety of moves at his disposal including a number of jumps, attacks and the ability to move blocks. He also gains weapons along the way, including a sword, saber, dagger, bow, stick and magical bolts.
The game's graphics are advanced. Fitting sound effects and atmospheric music are incorporated.
The combat system is a strength of the game. Using the sword requires a mastery of defensive as well as offensive moves. Blocking, ducking and precision timing are all necessary for success in the later levels. Stealth also plays an important part, and oftentimes it is better to sneak past an enemy rather than engaging them immediately. Many of these puzzles involve finding your way out of sticky situations such as falling spikes or closing walls.
