SimCity 2000
City management sim and part of the long-running series. You are placed in charge of a new settlement and must build it into a thriving city. You are responsible for laying out your city, raising taxes, allocating revenues, improving infrastructure and generally keeping the population happy. There is a selection of scenarios and the option for open-ended games. The game marks the transition to 3D graphics from the 2D graphics of the original. Numerous new options have been made, including building and disaster types. The interface and menu system have been refined.
The N64 version of the game has separate publisher and developer (Imagineer) and was released only in Japan.
It has mini-games and other special features. Mini-games include horse racing and shooting games.
The control system or the console games are not as effective as for PC/Mac due to lack of mouse.
