Top Gear Rally 2
Rally racing sim and follow-up to a successful original. There are around twenty drivable cars by authentic manufacturers including Subaru, Mitsubishi and Toyota. The game's off-road tracks are well-designed with varied terrain, settings and weather conditions. The handling of the cars combines arcade and simulation elements and the control system is effective.
The game offers a choice of game options including a training mode (set in a driving school), single races, full championships, four-player races and two-player, team-based races. In championship mode, you select a team and compete in a series of races for various Cups. Competitions are structured like real rallies, with courses being divided into legs. You'll receive prize money for good performances in races and this can be spent on car upgrades. The game employs realistic damage modeling and you'll also have to pay for the repairs out of race winnings. An important feature of the game is that the it has a course generator that randomly defines the sections of courses to be raced. The game's graphics are good.
