Avernum
RPG set in a fantasy universe. You guide a party of four characters on a quest to defeat an evil Empire that has overrun the land. The Empire discovered a portal to a subterranean world, called Avernum, which they have used as a place to exile subjects who are not loyal. Your party must enter the realm, which incorporates loads of settlements and dungeon sections, populated by a variety of races.
The gameplay involves exploration, combat, character development, item collection and interaction with NPCs. Numerous mini-quests are available. Combat is turn-based and magic plays an important part in the game. The game employs 2D graphics and has a retro feel. You view the action from an overhead perspective. The interface and controls are effective.
