Seven Kingdoms 2: The Fryhtan Wars
Real-time strategy game premised on a conflict between humans and an alliance of alien races (the Fryhtan). It is played on an isometric-viewed landscape populated with 3D buildings and units.
There are several play options incorporated into the game including single-player campaigns, stand-alone scenarios and a multi-player mode.
You can choose to play one of twelve human tribes, such as the Egyptians, Persians or Romans. A nice touch to the game is the fact that since both sides are made up of alliances (seven different types of aliens form the Fryhtan) it is possible to form smaller alliances between aliens and humans. Another notable feature is that ethical constraints come into play, for instance humans get penalized for destroying neutral settlements, whilst the Fryhtans get bonuses for killing civilians.
The game offers a great deal of detailed control over your group. As with other, better-known games in this genre, you must manage your resources, build units, develop technology and keep your people happy. Diplomacy, espionage and trade are also important elements.
The weapons used in the game are both conventional and magical.
There are five difficulty levels to choose from, adding replayability value to the single-player game. The graphics are adequate whilst the AI is good, allowing for challenging combat. Atmospheric music and sound effects accompany play.
