Pacific General
WWII turn-based war-game. as the name suggests the game concentrates on the conflict between Japan and the US. Although the game is historically based, the missions also cover hypothetical situations such as a Japanese invasion of the US in 1944. a large number of authentic unit types feature and the game covers naval, land and air combat.
Like the related games, Panzer General, Allied General, Star General and Fantasy General, the game is played on hex-based map screens. As with the other games, this game features easy-to-master controls and simplified rules for fast-paced action. The main single-player game are the two dynamic campaigns, the missions of which can also be played separately. There is also a good scenario editor and a two-player mode. The game's AI, interface and graphics are effective, despite the game's age.
In campaign mode, the results of one mission decide your role in the next scenario and the quality of the units you have at your disposal (though a system of prestige points).
