Wargamer: Napoleon 1813-14
Wargame. The game combines real-time and turn-based action. It employs a simple drag and drop system with basic command menu function to organize your troops.
The game is set after Russia's defeat of Napoleon and you can choose to play the French or Eastern Europeans. The game map covers central Europe, focusing on the Prussian states.
There are several game options to work through. The Grand Campaign covers the period 1813-4 and includes the battles of Dennewitz, Bautzen and Leipzig. You must control aspects such as recruitment, supply and divisional and corps organization. There is also a range of stand-alone scenarios.
There is no pre-mission planning phase so strategies must be developed on the battlefield. Since the game deals with top-level command, the smallest unit to which orders can be issued is the division. However, you are not limited to deciding their positions but also choose their formations. Pop-up windows are present to determine the composition of forces since the scale of the battles makes it difficult to distinguish unit-types.
Most of the game takes place on an over-head viewed landscape divided into hexes. There is also a larger scale map. The game's graphics, AI and sound are adequate although not advanced.
