Urban Chaos
Avialble for PC and PlayStation.
Action/adventure game with fighting, driving and puzzle elements. The game is set in an alternative dimension where, as well as the normal selection of criminals, a millennium cult is threatening the peace of the fictional Union City. The game is divided into a series of well-designed missions.
For the majority of the game you play a female cop named D'arcy Stern, but later on you'll get two further playable characters who are also trying to thwart the plans of the criminals.
Over thirty missions are included in the game with a good variety of objectives. The game begins D'arcy at police training school and mission objectives include the location and arrest of a range of criminals, including gang members, and the rescue of hostages. Some missions have a tight time limit.
The city is well-designed, atmospheric and alive with virtual people. There is a lot of attention to detail an impressive rain an light effects.
There is a also strong puzzle-solving element to the game. Puzzles are challenging and well-thought-out. To add further diversity and reality to the game it is possible to requisition vehicles and use them to get around the city.,
The game is played from a third-person perspective. D'arcy has a good range of moves at her disposal including a number of martial-arts-style attacks. Jumping and climbing are often-used skills. In addition, weaponry, such as knives and guns are accumulated along the way. A good feature of the game is that D'arcy is equipped with GPS, so you'll easily be able to keep track of her location and intended destination.
The game employs a straight-forward control system and the camera system is effective.
As noted, the game boasts excellent graphics (particularly on a good PC) and character animation is of a high standard. A range of fitting and atmospheric sound effects accompany play.
