Omikron: The Nomad Soul
Adventure game with additional elements. It is the latest title in the Omikron series and is set in the doomed city of Omikron,. Rendered in detail, you are free to roam the streets, take taxis, enter the buildings and talk to the inhabitants. The game is not strictly linear (it uses the so-called 'Intelligent Adventure Manager') but develops into a struggle to save the city from an evil entity named Astaroth.
The gameplay involves exploration, interaction with NPCs, combat and puzzle-solving. The game's name refers to the fact that rather than playing a single character throughout, you move bodies when the host is killed, taking over the first person that touches the corpse. Each host has its own characteristics.
The game has received a lot of attention partly because David Bowie makes an appearance as a musician character named Boz. A virtual album is even included.
A nice touch is that you can buy the album from a club, take to your virtual home and play it. The soundtrack features numbers by David Bowie and his long-time collaborator Reeves Gabriels. The super-model and wife of Bowie, Iman also features.
The game's environment and character design is highly stylized. The 3D graphics are advanced. The game attempts full-facial motion capture, making dialogue sequences appear more realistic.
