Martian Gothic: Unification
Action adventure game released for PC and PlayStation. The game's strong story was written by sci-fi writer Stephen Marley and is largely developed through high-quality cutscenes. The game's violence and horror theme make it unsuitable for kids. There are three playable character, each of whom will have their own set of challenges to overcome.
The game is set on a science base on Mars in the near future and the premise is that an alien bacteria has infected the base. It has the effect of creating a single mutant being from three human bodies. Three characters are sent to investigate and each enters the complex from a different access point since contact between then must be avoided so they can avoid transformation.
The gameplay involves exploring the futuristic base facing zombie-like enemies and solving puzzles as you go. The game's graphics are reasonable, it employs a system of 3D characters combined with more 2D backgrounds. The control system could be better. The atmospheric sound effects and musical sound track are good.
