Luftwaffe Commander
Air combat sim set in WW2. It is the follow-up to Sabre Ace. The game enables you to take control of several types of Luftwaffe aircraft. You command the lead plane in a series of missions set in the skies over France, Britain, Russia and Spain. Your fellow pilots follow your lead. In multi-player mode you can participate in on-line, cooperative missions.
The single-player game consists of 50 missions in all, covering a vast area of terrain. There are ten aircraft for you to fly, with some 30 others featuring as non-flyable craft. Specifically, there are four variants of the Bf-109 together with other craft including the Spitfire and Messerschmit 262 jet fighter.
The game offers two flight models to choose from, but in general the game has a more arcade-game feel than an ultra-accurate sim. The game boasts generally good graphics; with planes rendered in detail and realistic landscape rendering.
The controls and interface are adequate. There are several views available to help you keep close track on the action, although switching between them takes time. A range of fitting sound effects accompanies play.
