Speed Freaks
Kart racing game with a cartoon feel to the graphics. The premise is that a
group of children have skipped school to embark on a racing adventure.
Choose from six racers, each with their own handling characteristics. There are further
racers to be earned. The game has 12 well-designed courses to master. They are numerous
short-cuts and alternative routes to be discovered. Settings include a theme park.
There is a good range of weapons and other powerups to be collected and used. Among
the weapons are homing missiles and oil-slicks. There are several play modes to choose
form including a full single-player championship and a multi-player mode for up to four to
race on a split screen.
The game employs a simple, arcade-style control system. The bold graphics are good and
an impressive range of sound effects accompanies play.
